Twixmas for many is that quiet period between the madness of Christmas and the excitement of welcoming in the New Year. Whilst others go back to work, some of you may be able to extend your festive break and have a few extra days off before the New Year bank holiday. You could use this time to catch up with friends and loved ones or better still, choose to relax after the hustle and bustle of the festive season with a Twixmas break by coach?

After all, you've probably spent most of it standing by a hot stove preparing the Christmas Dinner, have finally got the house in some sort of order once the relatives have left and battled through the crowds on the High Street in order to return unwanted or faulty gifts - we think it's time you had a break, don't you?

So why not step aboard the Olympia and enjoy a relaxing Betwixmas Cruise along The Rhine where you can enjoy full board and an itinerary full of exciting ports of call to Boppard, Rudesheim and Koblenz. On the other hand, spend a few days in Ostend where you can explore Bruges at leisure or see the beautiful Grand Palace in Brussels.

If you'd rather not travel too far away from home, there are a variety of Twixmas coach breaks to beautiful places within the UK such as England's south coast where you can spend a few days in Bournemouth with a scenic drive through the stunning New Forest. Escape to Yorkshire for a few days and enjoy a fantastic festive break in Scarborough where you'll explore the Yorkshire Dales and the harbour town of Whitby. London is also a great place for a Twixmas break where you can stay in a comfortable hotel with plenty of free time to see the sights and maybe grab a bargain in the sales. If you'd like to brave the coast during the winter, you could spend Twixmas in Great Yarmouth, the Isle of Wight and Blackpool - there really is something for everyone

Time to recharge those batteries and relax before the excitement of welcoming 2025, the question is where will you be?

Twixmas breaks tend to include: return coach travel, comfortable hotel accommodation, meals and free time at leisure to explore the local area. Meals can be limited on overseas breaks with many only providing bed and breakfast, however cruises will provide full board arrangements when on the ship. In some cases, excursions or scenic tours may also be included in the itinerary but the majority will leave you to explore at your own pace.

Why not make the Christmas spirit last a little longer by taking a short break during the period sandwiched between Christmas and New Year – what everyone affectionately calls Twixmas! Here are just a few of the places you can visit during this time:

Bath
Many consider this to be a world class destination at any time of year and during your Twixmas break you will be able to explore at leisure the Royal Crescent, Roman Baths and the architectural gem that is Bath Abbey which dates back to the 15th century. You could even bathe in the Thermae Bath Spa which is the UK's only naturally warm mineral-rich waters (additional charges will apply).

Isle of Wight
Use your Twixmas break to explore the 'Diamond Isle' at leisure, however it would be wise to wrap up warm as the British winter can sometimes be very cold. If Twixmas falls on a weekend, you could visit Osborne House for a guided tour. Take a brisk walk along the coast, visit Newport to pick up a bargain in the sales, enjoy the amusements along Sandown Pier or warm up with something hot in one of Shanklin's beautiful Tea Rooms.

The Rhine Valley
There's nothing quite like relaxing after the hustle and bustle of Christmas and a cruise along The Rhine must tick all the boxes when you're looking to recharge the batteries before the New Year. You have the option to stay aboard the ship and enjoy the culinary delights and entertainment or step ashore to visit quaint villages such as Koblenz and Rudesheim.

London
Spend a few days in the Capital where you can explore the sights and attractions at leisure. See the festive lights along Oxford Street where you can also shop till you drop, catch a hit West End show or take a sightseeing tour by coach. There's plenty for all ages to see and do whilst in London during Twixmas that boredom won't have a chance to set in!

Ostend
After just a short ferry crossing, you could soon be arriving in the seaside resort of Ostend, a popular destination for holidaymakers of all ages, providing a great base for visiting Ghent, Bruges and Brussels. Known as 'the city by the sea', it also has miles of sandy beaches to explore but during winter, it might be a little too cold (unless you wrap up warm)!
