Luxembourg - an introduction
Landlocked by Germany, Belgium and France, the small but wonderful country of Luxembourg (or Grand Duchy of Luxembourg as it is officially known) gives many a reason for a visit. Coach holidays either based in Luxembourg or neighbouring countries and will almost always include time in Luxembourg City, home to over 150 nationalities. People from all walks of life are drawn to the clean living and historical imprints of this city, with the jewel being the Grand-Ducal palace, former residence of the Grand Duke. Many museums such as the Museum of City and Art or Postal Museum are on standby to provide understanding and knowledge of the city to take away.
Being so close to the borders of other countries means that there are many itinerary opportunities when visiting Luxembourg, with the chance to visit or try something new. Luxembourg City
Here in the south of this small country you can't fail to visit the capital of Luxembourg City. This relatively small area carries a big personality, where old meets new and energetic streets meet peaceful parks. Visit a museum which hosts a modern interactive exhibition in an historic building which has a story to tell of its own. One third of the city is a park or garden so find a piece of green space to view the neat hedges and colourful array of flowers. From a Mediterranean garden to the French Gardens of Ansembourg Castle there are plenty of photo opportunities, especially at The Grand-Duke's residence, the Grand-Ducal palace.
Vianden
Located across the banks of the Our river, Vianden is a quaint town with medieval and gothic buildings which can't be rivalled by the close regions of Ardennes and Eifel. The almost restored parish church is the most religious building in the country dating back to 1250, and Art and Toy museums are also popular attractions. However, the perfect way to see the beauty of this town is to ascend into the hills on a chairlift for magnificent views over the river.
Grevenmacher
Very close to the German boarder is Grevenmacher which is the capital of the Luxembourg Moselle and is an important centre for wine growing. A visit to one of the wine cellars to sample the local produce should be top of the list of things to do. Narrow streets, medieval fortifications and a pedestrian zone makes this a perfect stop when travelling around. If nature is of an interest, the Butterfly Garden will astonish you with species from all over the world in an idyllic setting.
Echternach
Compact but with more than a handful of attractions to view or routes to walk, the oldest town of Luxembourg is a paradise for those wanting to embrace an array of impressive architecture and cultural events from parades to classical concerts. Several guided walks can bring to life the myths and tales surrounding the monuments and buildings of Echternach.

Health and Travel Insurance
If planning to visit Luxembourg it is recommended to apply for a free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). This entitles you to state provided medical treatment but is not a substitute for medical and travel insurance. With that in mind, make sure that you have sufficient cover before travelling and access to funds to cover costs and repatriation. Most tours offer the chance to purchase one-trip travel insurance at the time of booking.
Crime
Tourists can be targeted by people operating scams, which can cause financial loss. Be cautious and don't supply your bank details to anyone.
Entry Requirements
If your visit is for 3 months or less, the validity of your passport only needs to be for the length of your stay and not beyond. For stays longer please contact the Embassy of Luxembourg
If you are a British Citizen, no visa is required to enter Luxembourg.
Any other nationality looking to visit Luxembourg must contact the local embassy to check visa requirements.
