One thing's for certain when considering holidays to the grand ol' U S of A, the country is as diverse as they come, not to mention huge in area, so you may need further escorted tours to really capture the essence of the famous red, white and blue! Almost immediately after considering escorted USA tours, images of the Empire State Building, the Grand Canyon and the dazzling lights of Las Vegas spring to mind but America is so much more than this. Hit the open road through the Great Plains to the Pacific Northwest where you'll pass towering mountain peaks, red-rock deserts, stunning rainforests and hillsides bleached by the sun. Take in the tranquillity of San Francisco's famous waterfront or listen to the gentle jazz of New Orleans as you board a paddle steamer and cruise the Mississippi. Marvel at the White House in Washington DC or join the locals in the popular game of Ultimate Frisbee. Explore New England during autumn and witness the scenery bursting into orange, russet and brown. Visit Yosemite National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and you won't be disappointed with America's third oldest National Park where you'll come across the Half Dome, El Capitan and the mighty Yosemite Falls.

Broadway NyAmerica's magnificent neighbour, Canada, is the perfect destination if you wish to continue your journey through beautiful landscapes as it has them all! The Niagara Falls is one of the major sights to see whilst taking escorted tours of Canada, board the 'Maid of the Mist' so you can get up close to this amazing natural phenomenon just be prepared to get wet! Canada is the second largest country in the world and is full to bursting with glistening glaciers, mountains that spike into the sky, luscious rainforests and National Parks that are out of this world. As you venture into this fabulous open spaces, have those binoculars to hand as you are more than likely to come across grizzly bears, whales and the ballerina-legged moose all going about their daily business. To catch a glimpse of Canada's polar bears, visit the tundra shores of Churchill. For 24 hour sunshine, visit Inuvik between late May and July where daylight never ends. Experience traditional Haida culture on the Queen Charlotte Islands known locally as 'Canada's Galapagos' or chill out with an espresso in one of Toronto's hip and happening cafes.

Holidays to America and Canada usually include; return flights, transportation whilst in the resort, accommodation in good standard hotels and a variety of included or optional excursions. The board basis tends to be room only but this shouldn't matter as the food outlets usually provide great-value meals and the portion sizes are enough for two to share! Especially in Texas where you can have a free 72oz steak (if you can eat that plus everything else on the plate within an hour)!

Things to do

Being two of the world's largest countries, it's fair to say that there is no end to the activities you can take part in and the places to visit in either USA or Canada. Here is just a smattering to inspire you when planning your escorted tour:

Hawai'i
The main draw for tourists to this beautiful island in the Pacific is Honolulu but when visiting Hawai'i, you should make tracks for Kona. Here you can go snorkelling in Kealakekua Bay, hike in a multitude of caves along the Hillina Pai or explore the Volcanoes National Park. If you wish to just relax on the beach by the surf, a visit to Hapuna is a must.

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
This is one of the world's first national parks and attracts millions of visitors who love to admire the varied landscape. As you tour, you'll see mighty waterfalls turn into ice curtains (during winter) and a multitude of geysers spurting boiling water into the sky, enough to rival Iceland. This national park is home to a wide range of wildlife so keep your eyes peeled for grizzly bears, bison and possibly wolves!

Boston, Massachusetts
No visit to America would be complete without exploring one of the oldest cities in the US, Boston. The city could also be classed as one of the most intelligent places in the world seeing as it is home to both Harvard and MIT. If you're here in the springtime, then you should visit the many open spaces and parklands such as the Rose Kennedy Greenway. In the autumn, follow the historic Freedom Trail that will highlight the gorgeous colours of the New England Fall. The city also plays host to a variety of nightclubs, bars and restaurants to keep you entertained throughout your stay here.

Montréal, Canada
While many visitors tend to head straight to Toronto or Vancouver when visiting Canada, don't follow the masses, instead visit Montréal and you won't be disappointed. First stop on the list should be Old Montréal where you'll find collections of buildings that are centuries old. Cruise passed cafes and attractions in a horse-drawn carriage or admire the Notre-Dame Basilica. Uncover the underground city of Montréal, called the RESO, and shop in one of the city's longest shopping malls at the Eaton Centre.

The Cabot Trail, Nova Scotia
For dramatic landscapes, awe-inspiring views and the possibility of spotting whales – the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia is definitely for you.  This Trail cuts through the highlands of Cape Breton, located on the east coast of Canada, is considered by many as one of the best island destinations in the world. Its rugged coastline is a hotspot for whales and bald-headed eagles so keep those binoculars close to hand. Whilst admiring the amazing vistas, pay a visit to the busy fishing village of Chéticamp where you can learn about Acadian culture at its museum.
