An introduction to Prague

PraguePrague is undeniably one of the favourite places to visit when considering Czech Republic coach tours and this is down to the sheer beauty of the city that was left largely unscathed by the raids of World War II. This stunning capital city has been attracting visitors for decades and although it is no longer the cheaper destination to visit whilst holidaying in the Czech Republic, it won't disappoint especially with its four distinct quarters all offering something different. Another attraction for visitors is Prague's weather which is glorious during the summer months but can turn quite chilly in the winter. The Prague nightlife is also vibrant attracting all ages. If you'd like to get a better exchange rate for your Prague currency, the Czech crown, it may be best to shop around and change it up in the city rather than in your home country.

A visit to Haradčany, the Castle Quarter, is a must as this is where the ruling classes reigned ever since the 9th century upon Castle Hill. As you explore, you will come across many architectural delights such as the gothic St. Vitus Cathedral which houses the coronation jewels, Prague Castle, the Old Royal Palace with Vladisav's Hall, St George's Monastery and the Royal Summerhouse. This is a haven for culture vultures and history enthusiasts so be prepared as the Castle Quarter is likely to be busy.

When you have soaked up enough history, continue your Prague adventure with a visit to Malá Strana, the Little Quarter, where you will find beautiful baroque gardens and palaces belonging to European and Czech nobles. Some of these gardens are only accessibly by relatives of these former noblemen but there are a few which are open to the public such as, Vrtba Garden, Petřín Hill and Franciscan Garden among others. Other must-see's include; Lesser Town Bridge Tower and the Czech Museum of Music.

Do not miss your opportunity to travel across the famous Charles Bridge on a coach tour where you will come across Staré Město, the Old Town Quarter, which is the bustling commercial centre of Prague. One of the main attractions here is the Old Town Square (Staromestske namesti) which is home to the Astronomical Clock and is something every tourist visiting Prague should see so make sure you're in the Square before the clock strikes the hour. Other must-see's include;  St Nicholas Church, St Tyn Church  and the Charles Bridge Museum.

Conclude your explorations of Prague's famous Quarters with a coach tour to Nové Město, the New Town, where you can visit its most famous landmark, Wenceslas Square which used to be a horse market in its earlier days. Visit Dancing House, a modern building offering fine French cuisine and amazing views of the city. For more fabulous views of the city, climb to the top of Jundrisska Tower, the highest separate Belfry in Prague. Admire beautiful exhibits in the National Museum, see the gleaming golden roof of the National Theatre or have a night at the Prague State Opera. With so many sights and attractions to see, you may need a return visit and soon!

Tour packages for Prague typically include; return coach travel or flights, hotel accommodation in a good standard hotel, meals and a variety of included or optional excursions so you can really see the best of the resort you're visiting. You will have the opportunity to sample local Prague delicacies during your holiday as the board basis tends to be Bed and Breakfast or Half Board.
